Kanchanaburi and the Death Railway: 9 Guided Visits

9 reviewed

The Thailand-Burma Railway was built for the Japanese army between 1942 and 1943 by Allied prisoners of war and by conscripted Asian labourers, and tens of thousands of them died building it. The surviving line still runs as far as Nam Tok. The bridge over the Khwae Yai, the cutting at Hellfire Pass and the war cemeteries at Kanchanaburi and Chungkai can all be visited. Below are the guided visits that go there, from Bangkok and from Kanchanaburi itself, with what each one covers, how long the day takes, and whether Erawan Falls is part of it.
